"Eyes Wide Open: Mysterious Encounters with Black-Eyed Children"

In the shadowy corners of the paranormal, few entities elicit as much fascination and fear as the Black-Eyed Children (or Black Eyed Kids). Their dark eyes and unsettling presence have made for chilling encounters and mysterious lore. In this exploration, we delve deep into the world of BEK’s, unraveling encounters of resistance and acceptance, pondering paranormal perspectives, and considering scientific explanations for these haunting phenomena.

One encounter took place in a suburban neighborhood.  A woman found herself face to face with two children asking if they could enter her home. They were dressed in cloths that looked oversized and old. Their skin a pale olive tone. When asked why they wanted to come in or where they were from, they simple repeated the same questions in a monotone voice. When they eventually made eye contact their eyes were as black as the night, no pupil, not white part of the eye, just solid black. Overwhelmed by fear, the woman refused to let them in. She closed the door and looked through the window to see if they were leaving only to find that they had vanished into this air. The stench of sulfur and rot lingered for days by her front door.

Another encounter happened on a desolate highway, a man traveling alone, stopped to relieve himself on the side of the long stretch of desolate road.  While walking back to the car he encountered two children about 30 feet away who asked him for a ride. Despite their seemingly innocent request, the traveler's instincts kicked in, sensing something sinister about the children. Refusing to give them a ride, the man turned to walk back to his car. When he turned around to look at the children one of the boys had appeared right next to him, with no time for the boy to have walked that distance in the short time he turned his back to them. That’s when he notices that the boys eyes were s solid black void. The man jumped in t o his car and drove away.  Looking in his rear view mirror, both boys had vanished into thin air.

Most of the stories told about black eyed children are stories where the children were not invited in. There are a few reports where they were.

An elderly couple, living in an isolated cabin in the mountains, were enjoying a quiet dinner while a snowstorm raged outside.  They heard a knock at the door and the husband went to answer the door.  He was stunned to find a little boy and girl about 8-10 years of age dressed in t-shirts and shorts asking to come in out of the cold until their parents came to pick them up. The man quickly ushered them indoors and sat them on the living room couch. His wife made them some hot chocolate while her husband sat in his recliner and began trying to ask them questions about how they got there.  They refused to answer and both remained silent.  When his wife came into the living room with the hot chocolate they looked up at her and she noticed in horror that their eyes were a black void.  The wife stood in horror as she chocked back the fear.  That’s when the girl said “my brother would like to use the bathroom in a monotone voice. The woman hesitantly showed them the way to the bathroom. While they were in the bathroom she hurried to her husband and asked if he had seen the kids’ eyes. At that moment his nose began to bleed uncontrollably. That’s when the children came out of the bathroom saying their parents had arrived and they walked out of the house and into an old fashion car with 2 men in the front seat.

Her husband continued to have unexplained nose bleeds for months after, but most tragically, the couple’s pet cat was found dead in the very spot that the children had sat.  He had bled out from the nose. Perhaps if they came to claim a soul they got what they had come for.

Are BEK Demons or Aliens?

The question lingers: are Black-Eyed Children demonic entities or extraterrestrial beings? Some suggest a demonic connection, drawing parallels between BEK encounters and traditional demonic lore. The need to be invited in and the lingering smell of sulfur and rot are common traits of supposed demon encounters. Others propose extraterrestrial origins, pointing to the eerie similarity between the black eyes of BEK and the iconic depiction of grey aliens.

The uncanny parallels between Black-Eyed Children and both aliens and demons raise intriguing questions. From the shared feature of black, soulless eyes to the mysterious nature of their appearances and disappearances. Could there be a common thread, or are these reflections of our collective fears projected onto different paranormal phenomena?

For skeptics seeking a rational lens, various explanations come into play. Could the black eyes be optical illusions?

Some suggest that fear and stress may cause eyes to appear completely black. Others propose psychological explanations, rooted in the collective unconscious and fears of the unknown. The simplest explanation is teenage hoaxers.  There are black contact lenses that would make the eye solid black.  This does not explain the smell of sulfur and rot left behind, the ability to vanish, and the unexplainable feeling of fear and dread people who encounter these black eyed children feel. After all these are just kids, right?

As we navigate the murky waters of Black-Eyed Children encounters, the line between the paranormal and the rational blurs. Whether one leans towards belief or skepticism, the phenomenon of BEK continues to mystify and terrify.
